Bahia de las Aguilas – Dominic Republic

Bahia de las Aguilas – Dominic Republic -

Bahía de Las Águilas is the kind of beach that fantasies are made of, and in over a year of living in the Caribbean, this is definitely the best beach i have seen!

This pristine utopia is located in the extremely remote southwestern corner of the Dominic Republic, in the heart of the caribbean but those who make it here are rewarded with 10km of nearly deserted shore.

Bahia de las Aguilas (Eagle Bay in enlish) is of such a breathtaking beauty that it does not look real! This beach is a protected area and i hope that it stays this way forever, being an integral part of the Jaragua National Park, Dominican Republic. There are no hotels, shops or restaurants in Bahia de las Aguilas. Just nature at its best. White sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Swim, walk and dream. It is located in the province of Pedernales to the Southwest of the Dominican Republic and is part of the Jaragua National Park.

Bahia de las Aguilas was declared a World Biosphere Reserve by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the government received the certificate that accredits this area as being of global ecological importance.

The thing that i liked the most about this beach, is that is totally isolated. 323 km from the capital Santo Domingo and approximately 25 km from Pedernales (the nearest town), this beach is a true oasis in the middle of the deserted steppe of the park. To get here I took a motorbike and I drove all the way until the small village there is before getting inside the park. I slept 3 nights in this incredible beach meeting very cool loco people and witnessing to some incredible sunsets and sunrise, not to mention an amazing storm with thunders and lightings and a stunning sky full of stars! i will miss you bahia las aguilas!
